Home » Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary Club Foundation Awards $2,000 Grant to RCS Empowers
April 14, 2022
RCS Empowers, Inc. was recently the beneficiary of a $2000 grant from the Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary Club. These grants are given based on applications received and are at the discretion of the Philanthropy Committee of the Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary. RCS applied for the Rotary Club grant to fund an update to their existing health room.
The health room, located next to the Registered Nurse’s office, needs higher-quality medical grade equipment to replace outdated pieces. The space used to contain fabric-covered, non-medical recliners, but COVID-19 made them an unsafe choice due to cleaning concerns. Consequently, RCS plans to replace them with an AVA recliner, which is both comfortable and medical-grade, and a hospital quality gurney to have both a place for participants to lie down and be transported comfortably, if necessary. RCS also hopes to add a supply cabinet to the room to make treating participants in need of care more efficient.
Ultimately, the goal of the upgraded medical space is to offer a place where participants in need of care can be both treated and comforted. In addition, the room will be designed to calm and soothe. Currently, no space exists for participants who need to lie down for a time to recover; instead, they are usually sent home. By having the updated space, RCS hopes that, in less severe instances, participants will be able to stay at the center and return to programming after their concern is treated.
The generous grant from the Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary Club Foundation is a huge help to our fundraising efforts for this project. If you feel that you would be able to contribute to this project, you may do so at this link.
